Biography

PhD in Physics of Matter at Politecnico di Torino on 1992. Presently he is Professor of Physics of Matter at Polytechnic of Turin. In 1999 he was a co-founder of Materials and Microsystems Labs (CHI-LAB) of Politecnico di Torino, from 1999 he is responsible in this framework of a Research Group working in the field of micro- and nano-science, actually composed by 45 researchers. Since 2003 he is Coordinator, for the Polytechnic of Turin, of the International Master Degree in Micro- and nano-technologies for ICT (Master in Micro and Nanotechnologies for Integrated Systems, POLITO, INP Grenoble, EPF Losanne). In 2004 he is appointed representative for the Polytechnic of Turin for “Micro- and Nanotechnologies” in the framework of Cluster Project, a pool of the most prestigious European Polytechnic Schools. Since 1997 to 2002 he was member Executive Board of National Institute for Physics of Matter – Division Semiconductors and Insulators. Since 2004 he is Coordinator of the FIRB Project “LAboratorio di Tecnologie Elettrobiochimiche Miniaturizzate per l'Analisi e la Ricerca (LATEMAR)”, for the realization at the Polytechnic of Turin of a National Center of Excellence for micro- and nanotechnologies applied to genomics, proteomics and biotechnologies. The project has been financed with a grant of 9.868.000 Euro. Since 2004 he was member of “Evaluation Board” for Industrial and Scientific Projects of the Italian Ministry of Research (MIUR) and Italian Ministry of Industry (MAP). In 2005 he was appointed by MIUR as a member of “Evaluation Board” of “Veneto Nanotech” Technological District. Since 2005 he is consultant of Regione Piemonte Investment Agency for nanotechnological industrial activities. He has been and still is Scientific Responsible of several Research Agreements and Collaborations with industries in the field of materials and micro- and nano-technologies. He is/was national Coordinator of FIRB, FISR and Regional Projects in collaboration with several Italian industries. He is/was unit responsible of EC project with several European industries. His research activity is reported in more than 150 articles published in international journals with referee, more than 100 of them in impact factor journals. From March 2011 to May 2016 he joined to Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia as director of the Center for Space Human Robotics. He is author of 230 articles in international journals, h-index 26 (SCOPUS/ISI) and 2600 citations.
